  • Hacienda Mosaico Puerto Vallarta, Jal. Mexico (map)

If you stay for both consecutive workshops, Saturday night at the Hacienda is FREE–Plus enjoy 10% OFF your workshop weeks. Consider combining the TWO WEEKS of workshops Fabulous Florals! January 21-17th will help prepare you for Fabulous Frida and Florals workshop which immediately follows that week.

This walled garden hacienda with swimming pool and inviting common areas is artist owned and operated. Art abounds! Made on site mosaic furnishings serve to enhance your breakfast in this lush garden setting. Palm, mango, guayaba, and banana trees, along with flowering ginger, hibiscus, jasmine, bird of paradise as well as the ever-present bougainvillea create delight for all the senses. Enjoy a unique covered outdoor studio space with oversized work tables.

Hacienda Mosaico is located in Colonia Versalles, a typical upscale Mexican neighborhood that affords visitors a chance to experience the charm of daily life in old Mexico. You will find cobbled streets, where tortillerias and markets catering to the locals rather than the tourists…..craft shops, cantinas, night life and adventure. Hacienda Mosaico is ideal for small retreats and intimate parties as well as a quiet respite from the busy world….a tranquil vacation destination in a tropical environment for adults.

A combination of my Fashion Plate Portraits and Fabulous Florals! workshops. This will be the only location I teach this exclusive workshop in 2024, inspired by the tropical florals of Mexico and their beloved icon, Frida Kahlo.

Be inspired by beloved Mexican painter Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón aka Frida! You do NOT need to know how to draw faces, Elizabeth will teach you a photographic transfer technique that works like magic in order to start with a good proportional likeness.

Portrait emphasis will be on creating an acrylic encaustic effect background, transferring your drawing directly from a photo print-out, and shading black pastel line-art by rubbing with your fingers. Add a fabulous floral crown inspired by fresh local flowers and hand-painted papers created in class through the gel printing process.

Floral collage emphasis will be on utilizing gel printed papers to develop form through light and shadow. Hand painted papers will be glued down over a basic acrylic under-painting to create impressionistic painterly collaged florals for Frida’s crown or a bouquet. Paint your own collage papers, print local leaves, learn mark making, and more!
