In the sunlit corners of southern Italy — from Sorrento’s tiled balconies to Sicilian garden walls — the striking faces of Moor’s Heads watch in silence. Rich with mystery and legend, these ceramic sculptures tell tales of passion, betrayal, and beauty born from myth. Once a symbol of love turned dark, they’ve become cherished icons of Mediterranean artistry. Adorned with crowns, fruit, and floral patterns, each head is a tribute to the layered history and fierce emotion of the Italian South — a story molded in clay and painted in color.
Drawing inspiration from Sorrento’s local ceramics, ornamental motifs and lemons, combined with the legend of the Moor’s Head, you’ll reinterpret this timeless form with a fresh, personal twist. And because we’re in Sorrento—lemons will take center stage. Whether as a crown, pattern element, or color palette inspiration, the lemon becomes both muse and material, adding brightness and regional flavor to your final piece.
