In the sunlit corners of southern Italy — from Sorrento’s tiled balconies to Sicilian garden walls — the striking faces of Moor’s Heads have become cherished icons of Mediterranean artistry. Adorned with crowns, lemons, and floral patterns, each head is a tribute to the layered history and fierce emotion of the Italian South.
Drawing inspiration from Sorrento’s local lemons and ceramics, combined with the legend of the Moor’s Head, you’ll reinterpret this timeless form with a fresh, personal twist. And because we’re in Sorrento—lemons will take center stage. Whether on its own as a still life subject, as a portrait crown, pattern element, or color palette inspiration, the lemon becomes both muse and material, adding brightness and regional flavor to subject of your choosing.
We Will Cover:
Take inspiration from Sorrento lemons and ceramic Moor’s Heads
