Blast from the Past! Brayer Texture Technique

Low Relief Brayer Texture over Gel Printing

This week, Barb and I are bringing back Chunky Spirals!
One of my all-time best-selling designs — you might even already have one in your stash.

When we were gel printing together, we fell right back into that classic habit we all have: rolling the brayer off on a clean-up sheet. And wow… putting a stencil underneath that roll-off sheet? Pure magic. The pattern reveals itself in this soft, fuzzy edge that’s totally different from printing the stencil directly on the plate. Add in the subtle, low-relief texture layered on top and you get wonderfully complex papers perfect for collage or any mixed-media project.

And honestly? It was a good reminder of why we do this. Art is deeply therapeutic. It pulls you out of the day-to-day noise and back into the joy of creating.

So go ahead — embrace the process. Enjoy the mess. Let gel printing give you a little breathing room.
