Oil Pastel Resist on the Gel Plate

A Simple Way to Create Rich Texture. Who Can Resist?

Oil pastels are a fun and surprisingly powerful tool for creating resist on the gel plate.
Different brands produce different effects, but the key to success is applying a nice heavy layer so the resist really shows up in the print.

In this process I’m using one of my Joggles stencil designs as a texture-rubbing element to pull out beautiful surface detail and painterly marks. These stencils were designed specifically for gel printing and are perfect for adding depth and pattern to your mixed-media work.

It’s an easy technique that creates rich, layered collage papers you’ll love using in future projects. Scroll back in my posts for more resist techniques!
