Inside The People’s Artist–Competition and Fundraiser
I’m excited to share that I’ve made it through the first round of
the People’s Artist Competition and Fundraiser!
As this competition has gained attention, I know some people have had questions about how it works, what the fundraising component supports, and how voting happens. This week, the team behind People’s Artist released a video explaining the project in much greater detail, so I’m sharing that Instagram reel here in case it answers any questions that may not have been covered in my previous social media posts.
One thing that’s important to know: everyone can vote once per day for FREE. You do not have to donate in order to participate. Donations come into play if someone chooses to purchase additional votes, and that’s where the fundraising aspect of the competition begins.
Those donations support The Art of Elysium, an organization founded in 1997 with a mission centered on artists helping others through creativity and connection.
For the past 28 years, The Art of Elysium has paired volunteer artists with communities throughout Los Angeles, supporting individuals facing difficult emotional and life challenges including illness, hospitalization, displacement, confinement, crisis, and more. Their programs serve medically fragile children, teens, adults, seniors, individuals navigating social and emotional challenges, mental health struggles, and people experiencing homelessness.
Their team works closely with volunteer artists to create customized creative programs designed around the specific needs of the communities they serve. Today, they offer approximately 110 community programs each month, reaching more than 30,000 individuals annually.
The organization also supports the artists themselves, offering opportunities including artist salons, networking events, showcases, and distribution opportunities. Currently, they serve more than 2,500 artists each year in Los Angeles.
Vote for FREE every 24-hours–You Do Not Need to Donate to Vote
⬇️ When you log in to vote you will see the screen pictured below. Please vote for FREE, you can do it every day if you like, and if you are so inclined, you may make a tax deductible donation for more votes–but it’s not required!
Thank you to everyone who has voted, shared, commented, and encouraged me along the way. I’m grateful for your support and excited to see what happens in the next round!
