How I Use Stencils in My Artwork

Use Stencils in Your Artwork, Not Just on the Plate

I want to show you how I actually use stencils inside my artwork.

In this new video, I’m working on a Funky Florals mixed media piece and using the Geo Boogie stencil collection to build soft, layered backgrounds directly into the composition.

This isn’t about bold, graphic stencil prints… it’s about subtlety.

Using a stencil brush, I create soft-edged patterns that sit quietly in the background, adding depth and interest without competing with the focal elements. It’s one of my favorite ways to bring structure into a piece while still keeping that painterly, cohesive feel.

These are small shifts, but they make a big difference in the final result.
