Unique Spray Paint Effects Without Aerosol!

Create Magic with High Flow Acrylic and a Spray Bottle

I love this technique because it gives me the beautiful, airy effect of spray paint without any of the mess, fumes, or cleanup hassle. Instead of dealing with traditional spray paint, Barb and I took Golden’s High Flow Acrylic and put it into a spray bottle. The result? A fine, delicate mist of color that adds just the right touch of texture and depth to our mixed media artwork. When combined with my Gustav Klimt-inspired stencils, the effect was nothing short of stunning. The intricate patterns, paired with the soft spray, created a look reminiscent of Art Nouveau—elegant, layered, and rich with detail. This simple technique brings a whole new dimension to stenciling, making it easy to achieve a sophisticated, painterly feel without the unpredictability of traditional spray paint. Whether you’re working on collage, mixed media, or decorative papers, this method is a game-changer.
