Conté à Paris Crayons on the Gel Plate
Vibrant Relief Rubbings with Klimt-Style Metallic Resist
This week in the studio, I’ve been experimenting with Conté à Paris Carres Crayons on the gel plate—and I’m excited to share the results! These soft, chalk-like sticks deliver rich, vibrant color, and their consistency makes them perfect for capturing crisp, low-relief rubbings when used with a stencil and my favorite rice paper.
To take it a step further, I’ve combined the crayon rubbings with a resist technique using Golden Fluid Acrylic in metallic gold. The combination of texture and shimmer is just gorgeous.
And to keep it all in place? I’ve got a simple, effective tip for sealing your prints—no smudging, no smearing. Just brilliant color and beautiful detail.
