Metallic Resist meets Dorothy Dots on the Plate

Painted papers with a metallic dot resist—perfect for ripping and glueing!

This week’s Tutorial Tidbit video explores a beautifully simple technique with bold results. I’ll show you how to turn a uniform stencil into a random dot pattern using metallic paint on the gel plate.

Then, using fluid acrylics at an ink-like consistency, we’ll create a resist effect where the color soaks all the way through the paper—while bouncing off the metallic dots. The result? Fully saturated, edge-to-edge painted paper with no white tears—perfect for collage.

It’s easy, fast, and a little bit magical. Don’t miss it!
