This week in the studio, I’ve been experimenting again—this time by doodling on the gel plate with my favorite Posca Paint Pens. I used one of my 9x12 Gustav Klimt Scribbles & Doodles stencils as a guide, then misted the plate with water and pulled a print.

In this Tutorial Tidbit, I’ll show you how to create beautiful transparent collage paper with subtle relief texture using Soft Gel Gloss, a stencil, and wet strength tissue paper.

Watch how I turn a simple dot stencil and gel plate into richly colored, tearable collage paper. The fluid acrylic soaks through the paper but resists the metallic paint—no white edges when you rip it! Perfect for mixed media layers.

For Today’s Tidbit, Barb and I took DecoFoil and Texture Paste and made an incredibly cool textured effect. This is something I like to use in my Funky Florals mixed media pieces.

This week Barb and I are using Golden High Flow Acrylic with a spray bottle to create unique spray paint effects without the mess and fumes of aerosol! The effects are fantastic!

NEW NEW NEW! It’s finally here… a set of foam stamps inspired by organic Art Nouveau artwork of Gustav Klimt. These designs pair with the recent Klimt Scribbles and Doodles set of stencils and masks–a match made in mixed media heaven!

This week, I stumbled onto a super fun technique using beeswax crayons as a resist on the gel plate—and it all started with my kids' crayon drawings!
